Mr. Jones

Last night, the Saturday Night Rebel Rockers Traveling Circus and Medicine Show rolled into New York City. The Show consists of Counting Crows, Augustana, and Michael Franti and Spearhead —blending their sets and playing all together to create one immensely enjoyable evening of music.
Now my friends and I weren’t able to get tickets to this sold out show, but us and many others reaped the benefits of this being an outdoor concert. We grabbed a blanket, a few bottles of wine, and something to munch on and made our own picnic in the park. We could not see the stage or Duritz performance but the music was blasting and I think for the price we paid, we got the best seats in the house.
Michael Franti & Spearhead performed their new single “Say Hey (I Love You),”, which I am a big fan of. The group also sang covers such as “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “Casey Jones,” “Tainted Love” and “In the Summertime”. The Crows performed a few covers as well, such as Stones’ “Sweet Virginia” or the Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends”. However, Duritz performance of “Rain King” & “Mr. Jones”, was the of course the highlight hits of the night. All the performers wrapped up the show with “This Land Is Your Land.” And with that, the Medicine Show rolled on.
Last night was a Perfect Night. What could be better than a group of friends watching the Counting Crows in gorgeous weather under a full moon and a picnic in Central Park?
