Billy passed the 3rd grade

As many of you have seen the movie Billy Madison, you know that Billy spent most of his days drinking with his friends and causing disturbances at his father’s lavish estate, with nothing but lots of time and excessive amounts of money at their disposal. Bottom line, who wouldn’t want to attend a party thrown by Billy…

A friend of mine organizes an annual “Billy Madison Day” themed pool party each summer. Each year the party outdoes the preceding year. This past weekend was the 4th annual Billy Madison Day and it proved to be bigger, badder, and better then last.

There was a bus charted from Manhattan to take us to the party, where sandwiches were thrown at the bus driver, banana peels thrown out the windows and beers were cracked to begin the day’s festivities. We spent most of the day chasing penguins and swooning over Veronica Vaughn. But in addition, we also enjoyed some games of beer pong, riding inflatable animal pool toys, music from a live cover band, Belvedere flavored snow cones, shots from the ice luge, and my personal favorite was the giant blowup slip and slide.

An entry fee of $25 is collected to donate to the ALS foundation, so even with all the debauchery we can all feel a little better about ourselves to be giving back to a worthy cause. Until next year, when Billy passes his next year in school and throws another party to celebrate.

Ice Queen

Anna Wintour made a rare appearance on late night tv last night to promote her upcoming documentary “The September Issue” and help create a buzz about “Fashion Night Out” September 10th. Wintour came out showing her true colors as the ice queen, stiff as a board and dotting her big sunglasses. However as soon as she sat in the hot seat, her shades came off and she began to melt, following suit to Letterman’s jokes and even poking fun at her image, the rumors, and Dave and his socks. Wintour manages to throw in a jab about a recent NYTimes article written about her, which seems to have struck her icy nerves. Love her or hate her, working in fashion, I’m excited to see what “The September Issue” is all about…

Skinny Jeans

While browsing another blog, I came across this gym class offered at Equinox, called “Skinny Jeans Workout”. This class mixes Pilates concepts with down and dirty strength training, focusing on core muscles (abs, back, and glutes), the inner and outer thigh, and the shoulders. The class is designed to help women feel more comfortable wearing curve-hugging denim and to help ladies stand tall (better posture makes anyone more attractive looking).

How great of a class is this? Perfect for my bod's skinny jeans wearing need and yet it also combines 2 of my favorite gym classes. This prompted me to do some browsing on Equinox’s website. Their class selections and offerings puts NYSC to shame. Even though this class is one more plus to add to the list of attractions at Equinox gym, I don’t think I’ll make the switch just yet. I’m dedicated to my trainer at NYSC and most importantly, membership at Equinox exceeds my budget… So for now I’ll put in a suggestion and hope the trend catches along at NYSC.

Talk about going overboard…

A Chanel Segway.... Here’s irony at its best…Going "green" but still buying designer and stimulating the economy… Anyone riding around on this should not only be ticketed but arrested by the fashion police and locked up for being tacky and offensive.

Allow me to re-introduce myself....

For your listening pleasure… Below is a link for a MUST download. DJ CookinSoul mixed an album of Jay-Z and Oasis. “99 Supersonic Problems” “Wonderback”. ..Best of both worlds…Does it get much better then that? ENJOY

The Haggler

Shout out to Handy Sandy (my dad), who wrote an OpEd piece for the Sunday NY Times in an effort to take down FedEx one package at a time….

I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell

If any of you have read this book, it’s a combination of vulgar, disturbing, hysterical, and down right wrong all in one sitting. It’s like one of those car crashes, where you just can’t look away. So when I heard they were making a movie out of this book, I was unsure what to think… how can they translate these stories into real life, will all the vulgar details be in-acted? Well being that it’s Rated R and not NC-17, I guess that answers my question…. below a clip of the trailer, a surprising cast of semi-C list actors. But after viewing the trailer it resembles a frat guy’s version of The Hangover and I have a feeling this movie will fall into the category of one of those books that are better off read then viewed. I’m still not judging the entire book by it’s cover and will probably go to see this movie when it premiers, so Matt bring the six pack b/c this ones being added to the list.

Tequilla Sunrise

This weekend we stayed in a Mexican psychedelic house, where you didn’t need drugs to trip. The bright colored walls, butterfly ornaments and dream catchers adorning the walls should have been forewarning of the craziness that was about to occur… Here are some highlights of the weekend…
Friday night post bars, the raucous continued at our house. One of the drunkest guys there in particular (who happened to be running the NY half marathon on Sunday) passed out on the couch, and proceeded to roll off 20 minutes later onto the floor and nearly cracking his head on the side coffee table.. 11am Saturday morning, when we left to go to the beach, he was still face planted on the ground. With sun tan lotion, sandwiches, and hangovers in tow we headed off to the beach. After noticing our beach chairs had been swiped, my “cooler”, louder, and ballsier sister located her stolen chair. Not only did she retrieve them from thief, but managed to embarrass him in front an entire group of his friends, leaving him sitting on his beach towel, with her chair and his wallet in tow. After a day of drinking cranberry vodka from our camelback a.k.a. the Playtapus we showered off the sand and made our way to Happy Hour for none other then Fire Island’s infamous Rocket Fuels to start the evening. This was to be followed by shot gunning beers, flip cup, and of course shots of CafĂ© Patron Ole. There were some police encounters and a detective who broke a few rules. And lets just say the rest of Saturday night got a little bit hazy as we hopped from bar to bar…
This weekend we left with many more memories, some new friends, a new website created by the twins (1,000 hits a day – we’re going viral), a few more bruises, an eye infection, poison ivy and best of all a guest appearance made by Ricky Sparks (howayooo)

Summer is my favorite time of the year, not just because of camp But because I LOVE the beach!! Every summer, a group of friends and I, like many twenty (and thirty) something year olds living in Manhattan, rent a share house out in Fire Island. The island of filth as many like to call it, is like a Disney land for adults and I often feel as though I am re-living spring break. Well, I’m off this afternoon to spend another awesome weekend in Fire Island filled with lots of laughs, drinking, dancing, late night hookups, and tons of embarrassing stories to be had…

They'll always be a Bryn Mawr....

The summer is here and wedding season is upon us…
I recently attended the wedding of an old camp friend of mine. And I couldn't think of a better way to start this blog about my twenty-something life, then to talk about camp; one of my most cherished childhood memories.
Summer camp is a weird obsession, that not many can explain or understand this bond, except for those who attend. But one of the most important lessons my camp friends taught me, was to live in the moment and enjoy every minute of it because our time together was never long enough. So I dedicate this first post to all of my Bryn Mawr Angels out there.
