Oscar Worthy Fashion
The Oscars are often regarded as the superbowl of fashion. Designers, celebrities, and the rest of mainstream America await all year for this glamorous star studded event. Last night's red carpet was filled with golds, metallics, and lots of fabrics. Many were also channeling John Hughes "Pretty in Pink". Ruffles and the rising slit were other big trends that were hard not to notice(thankfully it was not windy that night or else some of these ladies would end up on the Fashion Police's list). Overall, I was pleased by the beauty, elegance and shimmer all around. I wasn't overly wowed and very few disappointed. I have highlighted some of my picks for best dressed and a few that I thought missed the boat.....
MY FAVE PICKS
Sandra Bullock looked stunning in her shimmery gold Marchesa gown with a sheer embroidery that exuded elegance and style. What also may have helped her win Best dressed in my book was while presenting Sandy mentioned michigas in her speech, so how could I not reciprocate the love back (still on search for the youtube clip - stay tuned)
Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab, brought print to the carpet. The criss cross draping of her dress was so appealing and the colors complementing her own natural beauty as well. She was a complete package last night with gorgeous earrings and her hair and makeup to finish off her stunning look.
Sarah Jessica Parker proved to be fashion forward as expected, in Chanel Haute Couture. At first I was unsure about whether or not this dress was flattering, but it definitely grew on me quickly. It was so simple yet so complex at the same time and has a one-of-a-kind neckline (which often visibly bothered her throughout the night). Her bangles and earrings added just the right amount of bling to her mix. I couldn't imagine this dress on anyone else and SJP as always rocked it so well!
Cameron Diaz made a late entrance on her way down the red carpet, saving one of the best dresses for last. She epitomized classic Hollywood glamour in her champagne-colored Oscar de la Renta gown, covered in golden beading. Not only was her dress perfection, she also got it right on the hair, makeup, and accessory front, creating a cohesive (and simple) look that not only showcased her beauty, but also made her a red-carpet standout.
J LO wearing a soft lilac Armani Prive gown. Her dress was elegant but yet it also reminded me of bubble wrap and there may have been a little too much fabric cascading from her hip. I loved the flow of the blooming dress and how the fabric folds over the bodice. An added bonus, on Lopez, was that this gown went from sophisticated to sexy and who doesn't appreciate a little sex appeal?
Zoe Saldana went very dramatic in Givenchy. I love the dress from the top up, she looked absolutely stunning, but I'm not sure I understand the explosion of pom-poms on the bottom. It was almost as if, 2 different dresses were sewn together to create 1. It was definitely a statement piece, I'm just not sure she was making the right one...
Charlize Theron - Shes so beautiful, but this dress is distracting from her face and I can't stop staring at her chest. The color combination was unique and showcased the trend of pinks and purple hues, but again I can't get over those spiral designs covering her breasts.

Elizabeth Banks looked very modern and chic in Versace. Cascading ruffles offset a fitted bodice, and feminine jewels to top it all off —I loved her simple diamond headband and diamond flower studs.

Diane Kruger is another example of a stunning woman in an unflattering dress. The Chanel gown she chose did absolutely nothing flattering for her figure and aged her drastically.

DOME-ination
Just me and 34,616 of my closest friends...
'Cuse dominated 'Nova on Saturday night, shutting down the house, and showing everyone why they rightfully deserve to be #1. The sold out crowd was a sea of Orange inside the Carrier Dome, and the intensity of the fans certainly did not disappoint.
It was a fun trip back to 'Cuse... running into old friends, former flings, knocking on my old apartment door, and hitting up our local watering holes and late night food joints. It was as if I'd never left. But that fantasy soon was shattered when within minutes of arriving at a bar, a kid hitting on my girlfriend and I asked us what year we graduated, and then proceeded to label us as "old ladies". Ouch, what a smack with reality that was. I decided from then on that I was no longer going to tell anyone else the year that I actually graduated and I would continue to relive the weekend as if I was back in college with the rest of them. And party like I was back in college I did...
Just like the SU fans made NCAA history on Saturday night, as the largest on-campus crowd at a college basketball game; this weekend will surely go down as a historic one in my books. Thanks for a great weekend 'Cuse. Looking forward to watching the boys in the Big East and March Madness tournaments.

New York Fashion Week
Although this wasn't my first runway experience per se
But rather my first time at New York Fashion Week..
My girlfriend invited me as her plus 1 to view the Rachel Roy Fall 2010 show. Roy lived up to all her hype and put on a killer presentation with a standing room audience that included Andre Leon Tally, along with Miss Jay (America's Next Top Model), her ex husband Damon Dash, The City 's Whitney Port & Olivia Palermo and many other industry supporters.
Rachel Roy’s Fall Collection was inspired by Cleopatra and was composed of evening gowns, pantsuits, skirt suits, and tailored jackets. Her pieces were made with rich textures and delicate embroidery in neutral colors that could take any woman from the office to a night out on the town. Roy's designs encourage the modern woman to be confident in her fashion choices and invest in timeless classics that will always make one feel powerful and sexy.
I'm still biding my time until NicoleAlvera shows at NY Fashion Week and then I might actual make the front row...
